After working for a leading call center company, Patrick Goldberg quickly learned his skills as a programmer could improve customers experience when dealing with call center agents. From outbound to inbound, Patrick learned that his love of keeping things simple allowed him to streamline processes and increase profitability. Patrick’s day job for a VoIP carrier requires him to work with call centers, residential, and business users. Patrick loves hats, hawaiian shirts, wearing shorts in the winter, and driving his Mustang with the top down. When not working and driving, he defers doing work via his website with the epic logo, BaaaD MoooD.

After working a city job in Gainesville, FL, Fred Posner fell into the technological world of web hosting, systems administration, and network engineering. Like many before him, Fred was tasked with running the company’s VoIP solution. After working with solutions such as Acme, Broadsoft, Cisco, and others, Fred discovered Asterisk and quickly embraced the open source approach to telecommunication. A large (yes, it’s a fat joke) proponent of Asterisk, OpenSER, and other SIP devices, Fred currently provides networking / VoIP consultation services through Team Forrest. Fred loves eggs, long walks in the rain, and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. If you’d like to contact Fred, please do so through Team Forrest.
When I was young, I loved telephones. I’d take them apart, play with them, and always loved working with them. Broadsoft tried to kill my love, but Asterisk quickly brought it back. I still love working with telephone communication and helping others with their phone system needs.

Dude… what’s up with using Dude? First, Ben Affleck is the greatest actor… no… the greatest human being the world has ever seen. Did both of you really cook food on your car’s engine?
Yes. But it was different cars before we knew each other.

Hey Fred,
I work for an IPS company and would love a pcap sample (however small) of the SIP Bruteforce you’re getting hit with so we can protect people from things like this.
Drop me a note if you have a chance.
Thanks,
Dave

@Dave,
I’m not being hit at the current time. Next time, I’ll send a pcap to you though so you can see the traffic. It’s basically non-stop SIP registration attempts. Sometimes it’s also an extremely quick succession of call attempts. With Amazon EC2 hosts, the attempts are VERY quick. Like 13,000 in less than 2 minutes.
